Just 13 miles north from Manatee Springs State Park you will find the pristine turquoise swimming hole off the Suwannee River called Fanning Springs. Fanning Springs plays several rolls in US history including Fort Fanning which was built near by (unfortunately no remnants remain today) during the Second Seminole War and in the 1930s Fanning Springs was a popular recreation destination with its bathhouse and even a roller skating rink!
