Texas is home to some of the largest and most diverse cities of the US including Houston, San Antonio, Dallas and Austin but is also home to rich history and varying terrain including 7 distinct regions  including Hill Country, South Texas Plains, Panhandle Plains, Gulf Coast, Piney Woods, Prairies and Lakes and last but not least - the remote and mountainous region of Big Bend County - home to one of two US National Parks - Big Bend - and home to Texas’ official state small mammal, the 9 banded armadillo and the state plant, the prickly pear cactus. Venture north of Big Bend into the panhandle region and you will no doubt find acres upon acres of historic ranches that the Texas state horse, the American quarter horse, call home.

Texas is not just the second largest state but also has some pretty iconicity Texas official state symbols - including the state’s official large mammal - the Texas longhorn - and the oh-so charming and one of the Texas state insect’s, the monarch butterfly, favorite flowers, the bluebonnet. The Texas longhorn is often found alongside acres of Texas’ state vegetable, Texas sweet corn as well as Texas’ state tree, the southernly iconic pecan tree. Next time you're admiring 'the stars so bright, that are big and bright' also be on the lookout for these offiical state symbolds 'deep in the heart of Texas'.
