Located west of Brandenton, Florida, De Soto National Memorial commemorates the arrival of Hernando de Soto to the Tampa Bay area in 1539 which would lead to a long and tragic expedition throughout the south east of the now United States. The De Soto National Memorial is maybe more well known as a beautiful Florida desination including 26 acres of pristine white sand covered shore lines, mangrove lined nature trails, fishing, boating and birding!
