An hour southwest of NASA's Johnson Space Center, you will find a tranquil slice of outdoorsy paradise called Brazos Bend State Park which is home to the George Observatory. Every Saturday night, the public is invited to come out to the park for a fantastic night of stargazing using one of the largest publicly accessible telescopes in the USA, the Gueymard Research Telescope. But when you aren't stargazing, this former private hunting camp includes 37 miles of trails within its diverse Texan ecosystem including prairie lands, wetlands and woodlands so bring your hiking boots, bike or even your horse and explore every inch of this Texas State Park.
