A slice of pure paradise lies right in the heart of Austin, Texas: Barton Springs. Take a dive, swim or simply a relaxing float in the 68 degree natural spring while gazing upon the downtown Austin skyline. Barton Springs is one of four fresh water springs in Zilker Park and produces over 30 million gallons of water a day from the Edwards aquifer. Humans have been using Barton Springs as a gathering place for centuries and I have no doubt 'the 'soul of Austin' will continue on for generations to come as long as we continue to preserve and protect this very special treasure Mother Earth has given us

And be sure keep your eyes peeled for the endangered and oh-so-very-tiny spring's namesake salamander!
